The Hollowquill Mapmaker Bench
Pull up a stool. I’m Inkbeard Hollowquill, and this is my bench.
Tell me who lives in your world and what kind of land they share, and I’ll raise the mountains, send the rivers to the sea and settle each people where they like to live. Their nations, towns and roads follow.
From the highest mountain to the smallest cobblestone
- World: plate tectonics, winds, rain, rivers, lakes and biomes on a whole planet.
- Peoples: Sunward and Northmarch humans, dwarves, elves, halflings and sandkin, each settling the land it likes and founding its own nations.
- Regions: open any square of the map in detail, with every river, road and town traced again.
- Towns: each town on its own land, with its river, roads, fields, walls, districts, trades and history. Deserts, tundra and mountains look the part.
- Towns in 3D: watch a town grow year by year, street by street, household by household.
Bring it with you to the board
Export map images, heightmaps, a GIS package (GeoTIFF and GeoJSON) and town plans for your notes, handouts or own maps.
Notes
Everything runs in your browser, and your world is kept in this browser only. A desktop browser with WebGL is recommended for the 3D towns.
